Both teams secured third place finishes: Guardamago 3 in ORC B and Sarchiapone IY 9.98 in ORC C.
An unfortunate collision at the first windward mark of Race 7 cost Guardamago 3 the lead in the overall standings and the European title, after a series of highly competitive races.
“This year, more than ever, the level of all teams was extremely high, with results wide open until the very last race. For me, this event remains one of the most compelling in the offshore sailing calendar, and I’m pleased that all the Italia Yachts teams, regardless of the outcome, enjoyed themselves on the racecourse. The nine boats from our shipyard present in Palma made their mark both on the water and ashore. Congratulations to everyone,” said Daniele De Tullio, before stepping onto the ORC B podium alongside Massimo Romeo Piparo, Claudio Arborea, Alessandro Battistelli, Ciro Basile, Dario Marotta, Lee Musarò, Riccardo La Mantia, Federico Piani and the entire Guardamago 3 team.
Gianluigi and Roberto Dubbini—owners of Sarchiapone IY 9.98, with Roberto also at the helm—were happy to secure a podium finish in ORC C.
“It’s a pity the wind didn’t live up to the usual standards of this event. We finished under gennaker, while the light breeze favored those flying the spinnaker. Still, we raced with determination, and even in the final race we managed to outperform other very strong teams and stay on the podium.”
The Sarchiapone crew is completed by tactician Lorenzo Bodini, bowman Mattia Noletti, mastman Roberto Vettorello, pitman Giovanni Ercolani, and trimmer Matteo Velicogna.
