The just-concluded regattas in Alassio for the traditional international sailing week were fiercely contested. Stefano Rusconi emerged as the winner with his IY 11.98 To Be, but he faced tough competition from another well-known IY in sailing circles: Gianluigi Dubbini’s IY 9.98 Sarchiapone, a strong favorite, wasted no time and secured the second spot on the podium in Alassio after winning the winter series in Sanremo. After three races, almost a ‘home’ match race, Rusconi commented: ‘We made two mistakes at the starts, which kept us behind Sarchiapone in the first two races. However, on the third day, we worked very well and managed to lead the race from start to finish. It’s been a great start to the season.’ On board To Be was also Gabriele ‘Ganga’ Bruni, the sailing superstar who shined at Tokyo 2020 and is now focused on the athletes for Paris 2024. To Be’s season has just begun and will continue with races in Punta Ala, Naples, and the Italian Championship in Brindisi. Congratulations, To Be.
