The Italia Yachts 11.98 Sugar 3, helmed by Ott Kikkas, triumphed in Class B of the 69th Tre Golfi Regatta, a 150-mile race from Naples to Ponza, Li Galli, and back to Naples. The Estonian team clinched the ORC Mediterranean Championship 2024, securing three first-place finishes out of the five regattas. "Winning this Mediterranean Championship overall makes us truly happy and proud. It’s a rare joy," said Tailer Paolo Bucciarelli. Although, seeing Sugar 3 on the podium of major regattas is not uncommon. "There was a great feeling on board, between the boat and the crew. It seems to improve with every occasion. The inshore races were marked by days that were not easy to interpret, and the offshore race was no different, with a second part that was, to say the least, 'sparkling'”. The Sugar 3 team, crowned 2024 Mediterranean Champions, includes Sandro Montefusco at the helm, Matteo Ivaldi as tactician, Maurizio Loberto as navigator, Marjaliisa Umb-halyards, Paolo Bucciarelli and Marko Ulits as tailers, Matteo Polli and Giacomo Di Stefano on the mainsail, Ott Kikkas on the mast, and Alessandro Siviero and Saverio Cigliano on the bow. Adding to the podium finishes, the IY 11.98 To Be, helmed by Stefano Rusconi, secured 3rd place in Class B of the Tre Golfi Regatta and 2nd in the Championship. These are highly satisfying results for the team representing the Yacht Club Italiano. "It has been a wonderful week, ending with the long Tre Golfi race, which was really tough. We return home happy and grateful for the hospitality provided by the Circolo della Vela e del Remo Italia, along with Naples and Sorrento," commented Stefano Rusconi. For Italia Yachts, it was yet another weekend filled with triumphs.
