Ott Kikkas achieved another impressive podium finish on Sugar IY 9.98 at the recently concluded Baltic Offshore Week in Tallinn, organized by the Kalev Yacht Club Harbour. Essentially, it served as the Estonian/Finnish national championship, featuring highly qualified teams. "The level of competition on the racecourse was excellent, with all teams being very strong," says tailer Paolo Bucciarelli. "Tallinn Bay will once again host the next world championship in 2025, and the competition here is never boring."The championship consisted of seven races, and the satisfaction of discarding a third-place finish is no small feat. Demonstrating the high level of competition, Sugar (7.80 points) finished just 0.60 points ahead of Katariina II (8.40 points), another team well-known in major international regattas, highlighting the fierce battle on the water. Light wind conditions often present the most challenging scenarios for interpreting the racecourse optimally."The Sugar team had several new elements to test, and this event was the perfect opportunity to prepare for the European Championship in Mariehamn (August 8-17, 2024) in Åland, between Finland and Sweden." Onboard Sugar was a well-tested and winning team: Matteo Ivaldi, tactician; Sandro Montefusco, helm; Marjialisa Umb, mainsail; Paolo Bucciarelli, tailer; Marko Ulits, tailer; Ott Kikkas, owner/pit; Taavi Vaigla, mast; Siim Ots, bow; Maurizio Loberto, navigator.
