A remarkable performance in the Ionian Sea, where Gerardo Nole and Vincenzo Ricciuti, competing in the Città di Taranto Winter Series, boast the luxury of discarding a second-place finish from their scoreline. After seven races, they lead the fleet with an impressive tally of just seven points, holding a five-point margin over their closest competitors. Their IY 11.98 We Try is certainly not a boat that lingers in the wake of others, but what stands out is the team's near-invincibility, despite being in a phase of continuous growth since the championship's early stages. "We received the boat only two months ago and are still in a learning phase," says Gerardo. "My teammate Vincenzo and I come from Potenza—not exactly a seaside town—and we got into sailing as adults. After some offshore experiences, we became passionate about racing and built a team from scratch. Our goal is to grow together, with the support of a few professionals." "I'm having a great time on this boat," adds Vincenzo. "We're truly in a work-in-progress stage, but so far, all expectations have been met. There's no doubt that having experienced sailors on board makes the boat more competitive, but we're improving, and honestly, learning this way is a lot of fun." The championship is far from over, but *We Try* is already set to compete in the Ionica 130 (from Marina di Pisticci to Gallipoli and back),the Coppa dei Campioni in Santa Maria di Leuca, and the Italian Championship in Capo d'Orlando.
