John Brim’s Rima IY 11.98 takes Second Place at the ORC World Championship in Newport

The ORC World Championship concluded in Newport, Rhode Island with great success, and among the standout performers was Rima IY 11.98, the yacht helmed by John Brim, which secured second place on the podium in Class B. The regatta, held in the waters off Newport, featured strong participation from Italia Yachts, with a fleet that included Artemis IY 14.98, Querencia IY 12.98, Rima, and Christopher Dragon IY 11.98. Throughout much of the competition, Rima and Christopher Dragon dominated Class B, holding the top two spots for most of the series. Rima IY 11.98 displayed impressive consistency, finishing among the leaders in the first seven races. However, in the eighth race, Rima was hindered by a competitor who employed a tight defensive strategy to secure their own victory. Despite this challenge, Rima’s performance remained exceptional, and the entire team deserves praise for their dedication and determination. “It was an exciting battle up until the final race. I am incredibly proud of my crew and our IY 11.98, which continues to deliver great satisfaction. I look forward to competing against other IY 11.98s sailing in the Mediterranean, a region we watch with great interest,” said Brim shortly after the awards ceremony. Brim also highlighted the presence of Italia Yachts representatives in Newport, a testament to the strong bond between the shipyard and its owners: “It was a pleasure to see the constant support from the yard, always close to their customers, even in international competitions of this caliber.” With this stellar performance, Rima IY 11.98 once again demonstrates its worth and ability to compete at the highest level on the international racing stage.
