The sixth Champions Cup held in Trani concluded with great success. The event's triumph can be attributed to the stunning location, featuring a highly technical racecourse that allows for the execution of the most beautiful and challenging regattas. Over three days, five races took place in Scirocco and Levante winds, ranging from 4 to 20 knots. These conditions demanded continuous strategic adjustments from all 18 crews to gain the upper hand. The competition was so fierce that with one race remaining, the standings showed four boats separated by just one point: Sarchiapone (IY 9.98) by Gianluigi Dubbini and Guardamago III (IY 11.98) by Massimo Romeo Piparo were tied at 7 points, while Morgan V and Lady Day (IY 9.98) by Corrado Annis were tied at 8 points. For those who observed up close, it was an intense and high-level contest among the IY 9.98 Sarchiapone, Lady Day, and Unpo’pergioco, helmed by Trani's own Niki Vescia. At the end of the event, organized by the Trani Naval League, the Italia Yachts Trophy for the overall first in class was awarded to Gianluigi Dubbini, who won with his IY 9.98 Sarchiapone, and the Indeco Trophy for the top Owner-Helmsman overall went to Massimo Romeo Piparo. Among the awardees were Niki Vescia on Unpo’pergioco for third place in the VIII Zone Championship, Massimo Romeo Piparo for second place in Group 1 of the Adriatic/Eastern Ionian National Championship, Corrado Annis on Lady Day for second place, and Gianluigi Dubbini for first place in Group 2. Additionally, Massimo Romeo Piparo received recognition for third place in the Champions Cup, and Gianluigi Dubbini for winning overall.
