The very first Italian ORC Double Handed title, just wrapped up in Trieste, bears the signature of Corrado Annis and Alberto Lonza on Lady Day IY 9.98.
“It was two beautiful races, tough and hard-fought,” they told us, “swinging from flat calm to 18–20 knots, with a solid sea building from the southeast. The Scirocco pushed us upwind along the whole Istrian coast before we could finally enjoy a long downwind leg. Sailing Double Handed is always a challenge: you need tactical and technical skills, but also true seamanship and, above all, a deep connection with your crewmate, because it’s all built on trust. Offshore racing is demanding: there’s always that ‘surprise factor’ that can overturn in minutes what you’ve been working on for hours, and suddenly wipe out the result you were chasing. With Lady Day we managed to stay consistently among the leaders in Class B, and that gives us great confidence as we look ahead to the Worlds in Monfalcone.”
Fingers crossed and full support for Corrado and Alberto!
