With three races on the final day the crew of We Try led by Gerardo Nolè and Vincenzo Ricciuti were crowned Italian Offshore Sailing Champions 2025 and all five Italia Yachts in the fleet secured a place on the podium Overall second place for Ott Kikkas with Sugar 3 IY 11.98 and third place for Massimo R Piparo with Guardamago 3 IY 11.98; Group 1 Cruiser third place for Giovanni Toscano with Varenne IY 11.98; Group 2 Cruiser second place for Niki Vescia with Unpopergioco IY 9.98.
A great satisfaction for Italia Yachts and for all the owners and teams who brought the Capo d’Orlando racecourse to life a satisfaction that unfortunately slipped away at the very last moment for Unpopergioco which was relegated while already preparing to celebrate the title because of or thanks to depending on how you see it a protest that led to the cancellation of the final race after the marks had shifted during the regatta. An ending that understandably left a bitter taste for owner Niki Vescia and his dedicated team who were ready to celebrate a pity because the Sicilian racecourse had proved to be as beautiful as it was challenging with six inshore races sailed in light winds where patience tactical choices and a touch of healthy strategic madness made all the difference giving us exciting duels and real spectacle just as we like it at Italia Yachts.
In the end between moving marks and last minute protests Capo d’Orlando reminded us that sailing is also about adrenaline surprises and stories to tell and we can’t wait to write the next ones
