The first part of the summer is bringing great satisfaction to the owners of Italia Yachts, who continue to successfully crowd the most prestigious regatta courses around the world. Just days away from the 43rd Copa del Rey — where no fewer than nine IY boats will take to the water to compete for the ORC Trophy and European title — we note the participation of Gianluigi Dubbini aboard IY 9.98 Sarchiapone Fuoriserie, joined by Piero Biasi and a team that is both “sharp and tight-knit.” They already achieved an impressive second place at the Trofeo S.M. La Reina, after six races over three days of intense competition.
We must look across the ocean to the shores of Lake Michigan, where Timothy LaRiviere on *Eagle* (IY 14.98, Class B) and Chuck Stormes on *De Tour* (IY 9.98, Class G) are dominating the 101st Bayview Mackinac Race. This 259-mile regatta featured 191 participating boats, and the brisk winds at the start made conditions especially challenging for many crews. However, both LaRiviere and Stormes skillfully led their teams to the top of the podium.
And it’s our own Marjaliisa Umb who is making headlines in the world of competitive sailing, having captained *Sugar* (IY 9.98) to victory in the A.LeCoQ 68th Muhu Väina Regatt, the oldest and most popular sailing event in Estonian waters, held in the strait of Muhu. *Sugar* clinched the series after five races, finishing with an impressive five-point lead over the runner-up. “It’s a fantastic week of inshore and offshore races, with a huge number of participants and an incredibly high technical level,” Marjaliisa commented after the traditional plunge into the harbor waters
